Sunday in the Park Concert

The "Sunday in the Park Concert" series continues with sounds from the band "At Fault" on Sunday, April 5th from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm at the Torres Park Amphitheater in Chalmette, LA. This free concert is offered by the St. Bernard Office of Recreation, Culture and Tourism through a grant supported by the LA Disvision of the Arts as administered by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs.

Jean Lafitte Celebrates Junior Ranger Day

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve celebrates Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April 25, as part of National Park Week, April 18-26. All slix park sites will offer special activities for participants to earn Junior Ranger badges and patches. The National Park Service Junior Ranger Program seeks to connect kids with their national parks. Junior Ranger programs are available at many National Park Service sites and are open to all children. At Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Junior Rangers earn badges and certificates while learning about the park, the National Park Service, and south Louisiana's treasures. Admissions to all sites and all programs listed are free. On Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Chalmette Battle field, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. children can try on a kid-sizd Battle of New Orleans uniform and make a general's or pirate's hat.

Nunez Community College Sixth Annual Pelican d'Or Short Film Festival

Nunez Community College is seeking shorts (films that run 10-30 minutes long), or short-shorts (films running less than a munute to 10 minutes long) for its film festival. The festival will be held in the Nunez Auditorium. Submission deadline is Friday, April 24, 2009. Entry forms are available on the Nunez web site, www.nunez.edu. Send films on DVD to Navada McPherson
