The St. Bernard Art Guild announces their annual open art show.  The show will be held in the St. Bernard Parish Courthouse lobby, 1100 St. Bernard Hwy. in Chalmette on Sunday, June 22, 2008.  The show will be open to the public from 1:30 to 5pm with an awards presentation held at 2pm.  The show will also feature parade of prizes and a 50/50 raffle.  Registration for participants will be from 10am to 11:30 with an entry fee of $5.00 for each piece with no limit on entries.  The judge for this show will be Auseklis Ozols.  He is a well acclaimed artist holding several awards including the William Emlen Cresson European Traveling Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Academy, several awards from the annual exibitions of the National Academy of design in New York, and the first Edward Marshall Boehm Award at the New Jersey State Museum. 

 

Categories for entry will include art under glass, art not under glass, photography and three dimensional.  Chalmette Refining, LLC will be giving a best of show award and a $125 cash prize.  Other cash prizes will be given for first, second, third place.  There will be a ribbon for honorable mention as well as an artists's choice award.   Specialty awards will be given for other themed entires.   Anyone interested in participating in the show can contact Annie Strack by emailing her at anniestrack@aol.com to request an application and specific participation details.
